What is a silk filled comforter?
Conventional comforters are filled with a synthetic polyester material. Other popular beddings are stuffed with down, which contains feathers instead of polyester.
A silk filled comforter is filled with numerous layers of silk fiber. SV Silk uses only the highest quality long Mulberry silk available to comprise the multiple layers of our comforters.

Should I order a cotton or silk cover?
SV Silk comforters come in either cotton or silk covers. Cotton is more durable and resists daily wear and tear better. Silk covers are softer, as well as lighter and smoother to the touch.
Cotton comforters are recommended for those with children and/or pets. Silk comforters are ideal for those seeking the lightest and most luxurious comforter available.

Should I order fall or winter weight?
SV Silk comforters come in both fall and winter weights. Fall weight comforters (3.3 lbs – 4.4 lbs) best suit those living in regions with mild winters. Winter weight comforters (5.5 lbs – 6.6 lbs) best suit those living in colder areas. If you live in an area with extreme weather conditions, please contact us for information on a custom-made comforter.

Why should I use a duvet cover?
A duvet serves three purposes:
1) It protects the silk comforter to further extend its lifespan.
2) It saves you money by eliminating the need for dry cleaning.
3) It gives you the flexibility to coordinate with your existing bedding décor.

What’s the difference between a silk comforter and a down comforter?
Cheaper down comforters may contain low quality down filling, leading to down clumping and feather trails. High quality down comforters may avoid these problems, but generally cost more than $200.
On the other hand, silk is very lightweight and requires a tremendous amount of layering to fill a comforter. Each layer is meticulously gathered, stretched, and placed by the hands of an experienced assembler. Standard spring/fall comforters contain nearly 100 layers of manually stretched silk. This gives a final product that is luxurious, carefully created, and available at an affordable price. For more information, please see the Benefits page.

What makes SV Silk comforters different from similar items?
SV Silk beats competitor’s prices because we import our companies directly from the factories. There’s no middleman or third party lurking around to mark up prices. We pass that savings directly on to you, our customer.
If you find a silk comforter at a lower price than ours, it’s important to be mindful of the silk quality. SV Silk uses 100% long Mulberry silk and contains around 100 to 150 layers (based on size) in each comforter. Cheaper comforters may use wild or short silk, and may have fewer layers.

Do you take custom orders?
SV Silk can custom-make a comforter to any size and fill it with any weight of silk to meet your needs. Please send an email to custserv@svsilk.com for more information.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?
SV Silk is currently looking for retailers who would like to carry our silk comforters. Please send an email to custserv@svsilk.com for more information.
